RUMFORD – The Widows or Widowers Sharing will meet at noon Thursday, Oct. 30, at Rumford United Methodist Church on Linnell Street. A potluck luncheon will be provided. Guest speaker will be Scott Fraser, pharmacist at Hannaford.

Canton festivities

CANTON – A Halloween party will be held for children up to age 12 from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31, at the Municipal Building.

There will be prizes, games and refreshments. A Halloween dance will follow for children 13 years and older from 8 to 10 p.m., at the same place. Refreshments will be available and a prize for the best costume will be given out. The events are sponsored by the town of Canton.

Halloween dinner

RUMFORD – The SeniorsPlus Dining Center, 50 Congress St., will serve a Halloween dinner at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 31. Since a costume contest will be held, the event will begin at 11 a.m. The menu will include ham, potatoes, carrots, turnip, cabbage, biscuits, beverages and Halloween cake. There will be a $3.50 suggested donation for those 60 and over and those with disabilities. It will be $5 for those under 60. For reservations, phone 364-3572.

Nov. 1 open house

MEXICO – The River Valley Wellness Center will hold a family open house from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, at the Mexico Recreation Center. Children’s games, face painting, bake sale, Chinese raffle, attic treasures and crafts. Proceeds to benefit the Wellness Center’s new equipment fund. For more information, phone 364-7328.

Snowmobilers’ meeting

ROXBURY – The Slippery Sliders snowmobile club will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 4, at the Roxbury Fire Station. Future meetings also will be on the first Tuesday of each month. All are welcome.
