1936 – 2003
OXFORD – Royce A. “Squeakie” Grant, 67, of Oxford, died Tuesday, Oct. 28, at his daughter’s home, after a long illness. His daughter had been caring for him.
Born in Greene, June 16, 1936, the son of Raymond and Alberta Reed Grant, after graduating from Norway High School in 1955 he joined the U.S. Navy and served for four years.
In 1959 he went to work for C.B. Cummings, where he was employed for 42 years, until his retirement in 2001.
He married June F. Tripp on May 15, 1960 and she passed away on Feb. 2, 1980. He never remarried, he raised his daughter and two sons on his own.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and his companion of nine years, Brenda Files of Stoneham.
Survivors include his sister, Shirley Grant of Mechanic Falls; two sons, Richard Sr. and his wife, Betty of Norway and Kenneth and his wife, Vicki of Oxford; a daughter, Rose Davis and her husband, Frank of Oxford; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren with one more on the way.
He was predeceased by his parents; and four brothers, Charles, Richard, Roland and Robert.
