1913 – 2003

DOVER FOXCROFT – Frances W. Hoar, 90, of Farmington died Wednesday, Oct. 29, at Mayo Regional Hospital. She has resided at Hibbard Nursing Home in Dover Foxcroft since April of this year.

She was born in East Wilton, Jan 1, 1913, the daughter of Clinton and Catherine (Marston) Wright. She moved shortly thereafter to Farmington with her parents and lived on Lord’s Hill (the Hammond Road). Following the death of her mother the family moved to Maple Avenue. She attended Farmington schools, graduating from Farmington High School.

She married W. Damon Hoar in 1934 and in 1949 they settled into dairy farming on the Falls Road.

She also worked for many years as a sales clerk at Reny’s Department Store until her retirement.

She was an active member of the Farmington Falls Union Baptist Church, and the Wakefield Philathia Class of Farmington Falls. She taught Sunday School and Bible School for many years.

Survivors include, two daughters, Mrs. Carol Look of N. Waterboro, and Mrs. Betty Greenlaw of Farmington; a son, Wayne Hoar of Guilford; three grandchildren, Ellen McBride, Timothy and Michael Greenlaw; two great-grandchildren; a half-brother, Richard Wright of West Farmington; a brother-in-law, Sayward Pillsbury of Dixfield; and a sister-in-law, Mabel Wright of Montpelier, Vt.

She was predeceased by her husband of 56 years; a sister, Mildred Pillsbury; and two brothers, Edward and James Wright.
