NORWAY – Stone-Smart American Legion Auxiliary 82 met recently with Past President Donina Pike opening the meeting. It was reported that the unit had made direct donations to Norway Recreation, Oxford Fire Department and to Fred Burbank for school children.

Rose Moulton was recognized for all her work in flower gardening for the post and the community.

It was voted to send donations to Western Maine Veterans Home for their memory walk, to purchase 1,500 poppies for this spring’s Poppy Days, to pay all assessments and to provide lunch at basket bingo on Friday, Oct. 10, for Moms of Youth Hockey.

Joyce Clifford gave a report on the department convention held in June at Bangor. Marjy Sessions reported on the national convention at St. Louis, Mo. She attended as a delegate representing Maine as auxiliary member of the year.

Ellen Snow reported that she has presented Norway Recreation with skates, roller blades and helmets on behalf of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Members working on the Fall Festival report that things are coming along with all craft tables sold and the raffle prizes list is growing. The group is looking for pumpkins as members did not have good luck growing them. The post is working on its plans for cooking outdoors.

The meeting was preceded by a potluck supper chaired by Marilyn Jones.
