Jessica Greaton is formerly of Lewiston.

FARMINGTON – Police say a former Lewiston woman died of an “apparent accidental prescription drug overdose” either late Thursday or early Friday. An autopsy is expected to be done this weekend by state medical examiners.

Jessica Greaton, 21, leaves behind a 9-month old son, said Farmington police Lt. Jack Peck.

Peck said officer Shane Cote and LifeStar Ambulance paramedics responded to a 6:40 a.m. call at 392 High St. at Apartment 15 at Sherwood Apartments, Peck said.

The woman’s boyfriend made the police call and reported her to be unresponsive, Peck said.

Rescue efforts were made and she was transported to Franklin Memorial Hospital, Peck said, “but unfortunately she didn’t make it.”

The woman had lived in Lewiston and moved up to the area a few months ago, he said.

She had moved into that apartment four days ago, Peck said.

Greaton died between 10 p.m. Wednesday when the couple went to bed and 6:25 a.m. Thursday when the boyfriend got up, he said.

Police interviewed family members and friends, and discovered the woman had been taking both legal and illegal prescription drugs, Peck said.

Police were assisted by Maine Drug Enforcement agents at the scene, the lieutenant said.

Greaton’s body was released to the state Medical Examiners’ Office, he said.

Police are investigating where the illegal prescription drugs came from.
