1931 – 2003

BUCKFIELD – Earle William Colby, 71, of North Buckfield Road, died Friday, Oct. 31, 2003 at his residence.

He was born in Paris on Dec. 20, 1931, the son of William and Esther Curtis Colby. He attended local schools and graduated from Buckfield High School.

Earle was a self-employed carpenter for most of his life and prior to that he had worked for several area road construction companies.

He served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, snowmobiling and spending time at his camp at East Grand Lake. He also kept busy with many projects.

Earle was a member of the Streaked Mountaineer Snowmobile Club, the Masonic Lodge of Buckfield and the John Long American Legion Post #58 of Buckfield.

Earle leaves behind great friends, trails unridden, fish uncaught and running deer.

Survivors include two daughters, Kim Lord and her husband, Tony, of Buckfield, and Shelley Jamison and her husband, Mark, of Buckfield; two sons, Peter Laliberte and his wife, Linda, of Utah, and Derek Laliberte and his wife, Betty, of Auburn; a sister, Eleanor Austin and her husband, Will, of Buckfield; his former wife and friend, Norma Colby of Buckfield; 11 grandchildren, Earle, Sherman, Melanie, Miranda, Richard, Harley, Savannah, Robert, Michael, Logan and Avery; six great-grandchildren; and his Lab, “Gracie.”

He is predeceased by two sisters, Betty and Carlene.
