FARMINGTON – Eileen Bayer, M.A., CCC-SLP, has been appointed speech-language pathologist at Franklin Memorial Hospital providing services for inpatients as well as outpatients, according to Marie Wade, FMH director of physical rehabilitation and sports medicine.

Speech-language pathology services optimize individuals’ ability to communicate and/or swallow in natural environments to improve their quality of life. Bayer said she works with patients of all ages to improve speech, language, and cognition and memory skills, and works with adults to help them swallow safely.

She also hopes to foster public awareness of speech, language and swallowing disorders and their treatment. She welcomes invitations to speak with community groups on this topic.

Bayer received her master’s degree in speech-language pathology from George Washington University in Washington, D.C. She received her bachelor’s degree in hearing and speech sciences from the University of Maryland in College Park, Md. She is certified by the American Speech Hearing Association and licensed by the state of Maine.

Before joining Franklin Memorial Hospital, Bayer was a clinician for Therapy Rehabilitation Services in Scottsdale, Ariz., providing clinical speech and language services in hospitals, extended care facilities and elementary schools. She has nine years of experience in speech-language pathology.

Bayer lives in Farmington with her fiancé, Glenn, and their two dogs.
