I need to say that I admire Danielle Taylor for leaving the coverage to exercise her free speech (letter to the editor, Oct. 24). She has that right, and she used it well.

Talking about rights, I feel that we all have equal rights without exception. Gay people have a right to be respected and accepted in our society as well as anyone else. I believe that we all come from a higher source, whatever you believe that source is.

I’ve learned a long time ago that feeling are facts, feelings are neither right or wrong, they just are, and if we want to be happy, we have to have the courage to be ourselves.

Gay people are not sick or wrong, they just have a different sexual orientation. I’m from a French-Canadian background, and my father and other older Canadian people told me horror stories about how they were rejected from work, loans, clubs, etc., because they were different.

Diversity, diversity, diversity. The great challenge is to accept diversity.

Let’s put ourselves in gay people’s shoes. How would we feel if we were told, abused in any way because of who we really are?

What do you think Jesus would do, huh?
