Genealogy Society

FARMINGTON – The Sandy River Valley Chapter of the Maine Genealogy Society will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, at the Farmington Public Library. Megan Roberts will present “A brief history of Chesterville” with emphasis on the area known as Keith’s Mills in the late 1800s. Anyone with an interest in genealogy is welcome to attend.

Public supper

WILTON – The Wilton Ecumenical Community Outreach will sponsor a public supper from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, at the First Congregational Church on Main Street. The menu includes chili, chowders, soups, homemade breads, rolls and desserts. Admission is free. Donations are optional but will be used toward food and winter fuel for those in need.

FARMINGTON – The Farmington Historical Society will meet Monday, Nov. 10, at the Henderson Memorial Baptist Church on Academy Street. There will be a potluck supper at 6 p.m. followed by a business meeting and program at 7 p.m. Megan Roberts will give a presentation about North Chesterville in late 1800s and early 1900s. Slides, pictures and letters will complement the talk. Guests and new members are welcome.

Retired teachers

FARMINGTON – Lunch reservations will be taken until Nov. 10 for the next meeting of the Franklin County Retired Teachers Association. The group will meet at 11 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 17, at The Granary. Irene Carnie will host the meeting and Jean Mitchell will introduce the program with guest speaker Betsy Cantrell, an AARP representative. School conferences

FARMINGTON – Parent teacher conferences will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13, at Mount Blue High School. People can call Terry at 778-3561 to make an appointment.

Driver education

SALEM – A new driver education class will begin Monday, Nov. 17. Classes will be from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. at Mount Abram High School. Registration may be done at the Adult Education Office in Kingfield. Students must bring an original birth certificate and a signed Social Security card when they register. A parent or guardian must also be present for registration. The course is $500. People can phone 265-5511, extension 7, for registration appointments.
