A traditional Veterans Memorial Mass is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 9.
RUMFORD – Veterans Day ceremonies take place in Muskie Auditorium of Mountain Valley High School at 10 a.m. on Nov. 11 this year.
Featured speaker will be Andrea Quaid, district representative for Rep. Michael Michaud, D-Maine.
The annual event generally draws scores of veterans and others. The traditional parade down Congress Street was changed to inside ceremonies a few years ago.
The high school band and chorus are scheduled to perform, along with several patriotic songs to be sung by the Rumford Association for the Advancement of the Performing Arts. Elaine Michaud will sing the national anthem.
A traditional Veterans Memorial Mass is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 9 at St. Athanasius and St. John Catholic Church.
World War II veteran Albert Paul, organizer of the Veterans Day events, said the special Mass is held each year to remember all veterans who have died, with an emphasis on those who have died during the previous year.
The service generally includes a color guard and special music.
