AUBURN – Karen White, of Gray, has been named early childhood education specialist at Central Maine Community College.

White has worked with young children for more than 20 years, most recently as Head Start/Early Head Start technical assistance specialist for Maine’s Office of Head Start and Child Care. She also served on the faculty at the University of Maine at Farmington and at Central Maine Community College.

White has a bachelor of science degree in elementary and special education from the University of Maine at Farmington and a masters of science in early childhood education from Wheelock College in Massachusetts.

She serves on the Board of Directors of Maine Roads to Quality, a professional development organization for early childhood education providers. At CMCC she will have primary responsibility for overseeing the practicum placements for the nearly 100 students in the Early Childhood Education program.
