“Jeremy McCown was sentenced to six months in prison” (Nov. 5). I guess there is something I’m not understanding here.

This man allegedly grabbed a girl into his car, attempted to push her legs apart while asking graphic sexual questions. He stalked several others and tried to grab them, according to the story. He was caught and jailed. Then he was given a plea-bargained sentence of six months, and the kidnapping charge was dropped. Is the state too busy to try him? Are they overworked? Are they tired?

We wonder why there are so many sexual predators running around. Maybe they’re the same ones, having done their 3-month or 6-month or 8-month sentences. I guess someone has to be dead before we keep these people off the streets.

The dead college student at Colby became dead after her attacker had been released from jail many times. Would it make a difference if these guys were killing and assaulting white businessmen instead of young girls? What does it take to put them away?
