RUMFORD – The Red Hat Mommas will meet at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 19, at the Island Cafe.

Thirty-four members were at the last meeting at Sam’s. New members are Catherine Grindler, Linda McGregor and Mary Greaney. Winning red hats for the month were Gabrielle LeVasseur, Violet Swain and Nancy Conley. Carol Violette won a prize for the prettiest hat and Alice Clark, Virginia Buotte and Carol Freeman for the scariest.

A donation of $25 will be given to Santa’s Helpers. Information about upcoming trips and shirts were discussed. Louise Horne is heading a committee to make a float for the Christmas in the Valley parade.

Halloween Walk

DIXFIELD – The 19th annual Halloween Walk had nearly 700 children participating. Committee members Debbie Shurtleff, Missi Bradbury and Tanya Perreault are seeking comments and suggestions from the public for next year. Anyone interested can send e-mail to [email protected].

Costume prizes went to Autumn Koch, 8, first; Bryan Gray, 9, second; Karizma Chickerring, third. House decorating prizes went to Craig and Rebecca Coulthard, the Dauphinee family and Michelle Cole.

Thank You Dinner

DIXFIELD – The Dixfield Common Baptist Church will host a Thank You Dinner on Thursday, Nov. 20, to recognize the staff of Dixfield Elementary School for serving the community in a positive way.

The church is hoping to make this an annual event at which it will publicly thank a person or group that needs to be recognized for what they do to make the town a better place.
