Homeless teens

FARMINGTON – A special meeting concerning teenage homelessness will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11, at Franklin Memorial Hospital. Anyone who may be interested in the problem or solution of homelessness in the area are being invited to attend. Franklin County Refuge will share its purpose, vision and plans, and receive input from service providers.

Focus: local foods

SKOWHEGAN – A free workshop scheduled to help local food producers create materials to promote their products will be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Nov. 12 at the Somerset Cooperative Extension Office. To register, phone 778-8143. “The workshop is part of the movement in Maine to promote the purchase of locally grown food,” said Jo Josephson, director of projects and communication for the Western Mountains Alliance, one of three sponsors of the event.

LIVERMORE – Charity Rebekah Lodge of Livermore Falls will meet at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 12, at the Ralph Wright Memorial Building on Route 4. Refreshments will be served at 12:30 p.m. by Hilda Corkum, Betty Harriman and Mildred Wright. The new district deputy president, Frances Berry, will present the assembly president’s program and give a report of the recent Rebekah Assembly session in South Portland.

Benefit for family

FARMINGTON – Mount Blue Assembly of God Church will hold a benefit supper for Blane and Chanda Rackliff, who have been struggling with family illness. It will be 4 to 8 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 15 at the church. The menu includes deep-fried turkey with gravy and all the fixings, assorted pies and beverages. The turkeys were donated by Neals’ Turkey Farm in New Sharon. Children’s tickets at $4 may be purchased at the door.

Helping the animals

FARMINGTON – The Franklin County Animal Shelter will hold its annual auction and raffle at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 16, in Room C-131 of the Roberts Learning Center at the University of Maine at Farmington. Inspection of items begins at 12:30 p.m. More than 200 items donated by area businesses and individuals will go on the block. Free refreshments, a door prize and raffle will also be available. Overcoming fear

FARMINGTON – Maine Centers for Women, Work and Community will offer a four- week “Moving through Fear” class in Farmington from 10 a.m. to noon on Tuesdays starting Nov. 18 and ending Dec. 9. Participants will explore their beliefs about fear, learn skills to help them let go of the fears that keep them stuck and learn ways to create positive changes in their personal and work life.
