Blood supplies have been steadily declining over the summer months and reserves of all types need to be increased in order to meet the needs of patients. A Red Cross blood drive will be held from noon to 5 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, at the Dixfield Masonic Hall, Route 2. All blood types are needed. This blood drive is sponsored by the Dixfield Masons. Giving blood takes about an hour, organizers said. The actual donation is completed in six to 10 minutes. Potential donors must be at least 17 years old, weigh 110 pounds or more, and be in good health. In most cases, donors may give blood if they are on medication, but should know the names of their medications. For more information, phone the Red Cross at 1-800-482-0743.
