PHILADELPHIA – Jeremy Roenick had a goal and assist, and Mark Recchi scored the go-ahead goal to lead the Philadelphia Flyers to their fourth straight win, 2-1 over the New York Islanders on Tuesday night.

Jeff Hackett stopped 23 shots, and center Michal Handzus made a brilliant save to help Philadelphia win for the fifth time in six games and remain unbeaten at home (5-0-2). Vancouver (7-0-1) is the only other NHL team without a home loss.

Adrian Aucoin scored for the Islanders, who have lost consecutive games for the first time this season. New York blew a 2-0 lead in a 4-3 loss to Atlanta on Saturday.

Just 50 seconds after the Islanders tied it at 1 in the second period, Recchi gave the Flyers another lead with his fifth goal. Marcus Ragnarsson’s shot from outside the circle was knocked down by Aucoin in front of the net, but Recchi got the rebound and slid it past Islanders goaltender Garth Snow.

Snow, a former Flyers player and University of Maine star, had 31 saves. He was unbeaten his previous three starts.

Blue Jackets 1, Canadiens 1

MONTREAL – Rick Nash scored a power-play goal in the second period for Columbus and the Blue Jackets skated to a 1-1 tie with the Montreal Canadiens.

Nash, held without a point in his three previous games, scored his team-leading ninth goal with 6:54 left in the second. Columbus remained winless in seven road games (0-5-1-1).

Panthers 4, Lightning 0

SUNRISE, Fla. – Roberto Luongo made 26 saves for his first shutout of the season, helping interim Florida Panthers coach Rick Dudley win his first game with a 4-0 victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Niklas Hagman, Andreas Lilja, Jaroslav Bednar and Valeri Bure scored for the Panthers, who snapped a seven-game winless streak against Tampa Bay.

Senators 5, Thrashers 3

ATLANTA – Bryan Smolinski scored twice, including a clinching goal in the final minute, to help the Ottawa Senators snap a five-game winless streak with a 5-3 victory over the Atlanta Thrashers.

The Senators, who reached the Eastern Conference finals last season, entered this game in last place in the Northeast Division and on an 0-3-2 skid.

Martin Havlat slapped a shot past Atlanta goalie Pasi Nurminen to give the Senators a 4-3 lead early in the third period.

, and Smolinski sealed it with an empty-net goal.
