‘Grammy Turner’

CARTHAGE – The Carthage Historical Society will see the movie “Grammy Turner of Peru” on Tuesday, Nov. 18. This will be presented by her son, Ellery Turner. Mary “Grammy” Turner’s story was published in “Foxfire” and has been on television’s channel 10 several times. She was a well known local legend in her time. A potluck supper at 5:30 p.m. will precede the meeting in the old Carthage school house.

Class of 1945

MEXICO – Stephens High School class of 1945 will hold its monthly luncheon at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 19, at the Mexico Chicken Coop. To make reservations, call Connie at 364-8785 or Muriel at 545-2709.

BETHEL – Western Mountain Senior College members are reminded that tickets for the Dec. 14 “Magic of Christmas” in Portland are on sale now at the Adult Education office. Call to reserve and pay 824-2780. The cost of the performance and the bus trip is $40 per person. Any tickets unsold by Nov. 28 will be returned to PortTix.

The group will meet in the larger Casablanca parking lot on Sunday, Dec. 14. The Northeast Charter bus will begin loading at 11:45 a.m. and will leave at noon for the 2 p.m. matinee. Returning to Bethel between 5:30-6 p.m.

Annual craft fair
