The retaliatory strike against Tikrit, Saddam Hussein’s hometown, suggests America is taking a page out of Israel’s book. If history repeats itself, we can expect retaliation against civilians for the acts of a few terrorists will only provoke more recruits to the ranks of suicide bombers.
Or, if you prefer a more homey analogy, the military attack on Lexington and Concord in 1775 initiated the guerrilla attacks from behind stone walls and rallied the uprising that led to the freedom of America.
