A break in the cases came after York County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a Chesterville man.
FARMINGTON – County detectives have recovered several items stolen in a rash of area burglaries during the late summer and early fall.
Sheriff’s Detective Thomas White said there are suspects in the cases, and he expects to bring charges soon.
Guns, jewelry, antiques and appliances were among the items stolen in the burglaries. The thefts occurred in several towns including Chesterville, Jay, Strong, Weld and Vienna.
On Sept. 19, burglars broke into a Chandler Road house in Strong and ransacked the place. A few hours later burglars struck a Route 142 home in Weld and ransacked it also.
The next day, a Jay woman interrupted a burglary at her Warren Hill Road home.
During the ensuing investigation, which is continuing, firearms have been recovered. Also, a stove stolen from Chesterville was found at a Farmington pawn shop, White said.
Jay, Maine State Police, county deputies and a Tri-county Property Task Force are among the law enforcement agencies that have worked on the cases.
White, the lead investigator, said that a truckload of items have been recovered.
A break in the cases came after York County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Michael Fowler, 47, a Chesterville man, in relation to burglaries in that county, White said. A 17-year-old Chesterville boy was also arrested in connection with those cases, White added.
Fowler remains in the York County jail, White said. The teenager was released to a relative in Chesterville.
