FARMINGTON – A Farmington Falls man was in fair condition Thursday at a Lewiston hospital with injuries received in a car-tractor collision Wednesday.

Frank Fitzmorris was a passenger in a car driven by Billie O’Leary of Farmington about 5:50 a.m. Wednesday when the vehicle’s passenger side collided with a bucket of a tractor owned by Ross Adams of Farmington.

According to Farmington police officer Mike Wahl’s report, the tractor was obstructing Knowlton Corner Road while trying to pull out a tractor-trailer truck struck in a driveway.

Adams was off the tractor and at the back of it checking a chain attached to the truck when the incident occurred, the report stated.

It’s unclear how many of the tractor’s lights worked prior to the collision, Wahl stated in his report. One of the tractor’s lights was on after the collision and the semi’s lights were on, the report states.

O’Leary told police she did not see the bucket and struck it with the passenger side, according to the report.

It was dark and there were no reflectors or traffic control on the road, Wahl’s report stated.

Fitzmorris was taken to Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington and then transported to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston where he was admitted.

Fitzmorris remained at the hospital Thursday afternoon in fair condition, a hospital spokeswoman said.

Wahl estimated damage to O’Leary’s car at $4,000 and Adams’ tractor at $1,000.
