FARMINGTON – The Mount Blue Youth Cheering, sponsored by the Farmington Emblem Club, held its awards night on Nov. 4 at Mount Blue High School.
The cheerleaders enjoyed a pizza party. Parents and friends came after for the awards program. Shannon Smith introduced the Farmington Emblem members.
Smith thanked the parents for sharing their daughters with the cheering program and coming to the awards banquet. She mentioned that there were times that games were changed and hoped that next year the notice of changes could be more in advance. She reminded everyone that all the leaders of the program were volunteers and that they are always looking for more volunteers to help.
Smith spoke about how the girls had matured, achieved self-esteem and learned how to get along with each other since the May try-outs.
The program continued with demonstrations from each team. The coaches were introduced as follows, Bobcats, Judy Burdick with helpers Vicky Kinsey, Kristin Gross and Dawn Kelley. Bobcats, Lynn Nile Ridley with helpers Amy Littlefield, Kristen Your, Amber Walker. Giants, Amy Harris with helper Ambert Douval. Patriots, Cathy Frazie. Mount Blue Middle School, Tami Greene. Each one was given a plaque, team photo and cheerleader pin as a thank you for their time.
Each cheerleader was then given a certificate, cheering pin, trophy and individual and team photos.
Prior to the awards program, cheerleaders and coaches enjoyed the pizza party provided by members of the Farmington Emblem Club No. 460 members.
Coaches for 2004 were announced as follows: Bobcats, Judy Burdick; Giants, Amy Harris; Bobcats, to be announced; Patriots, Cathy Frazier; and Mount Blue Middle School, Tami Greene. Try-out dates will be announced in May.
