WESTBROOK – On Nov. 12, John Murphy marked his 30th year of employment with the Maine Credit Union League and its service-subsidiary, Synergent.

Murphy is one of 24 individuals serving on the board of directors for the Credit Union National Association.

He began his career with MECUL Services Corp. (now Synergent) working in the print shop.

On July 1, 1992, he became president of the Maine Credit Union League and Synergent, the league’s service subsidiary.

He is the third full-time president of the organization since it was founded in 1938.

The Portland resident has served as chairman of the board for the Maine Council on Economic Education since August 2001.

The Maine Credit Union League is the state trade association for Maine’s 77-affiliated Credit Unions.
