RUMFORD – Selectmen are expected to act on a loan request that would expand a downtown business when the board meets Thursday.

The regular twice-monthly meeting begins at 7 p.m. in the conference room of the Municipal Building.

Town Manager Robert Welch said Eugene Davis, owner of Western Maine Associates at 19 Congress St., is scheduled to ask for a $50,000 low-interest loan from the town’s revolving loan fund.

Although Welch said he doesn’t know the details of the plan, he believes the firm’s office building will be expanded.

Other business includes a request by the River Valley Chamber of Commerce for a parade permit for the Dec. 7 Christmas in the Valley Parade and action on a pawnbroker license for Rita Hutchinson, who operates Norm’s Bargain Basement.

Welch said other items may come up under his bi-weekly report.
