It is vitally important to the nature of our community that Lake Street School remains a neighborhood school. It is, therefore, a mistake to give up our options on the properties surrounding the Lake Street School before alternative land is secured and approved by the state. If we forgo our present options and alternative land is not found, then it becomes a certainty that our chances to retain a neighborhood school will be lost and our children will be bussed to other schools. This is something we strongly wish to avoid.

At their Nov. 19 meeting, the school committee will be voting on whether or not to sign-off on the current land options they hold. Residents should let the school administration know how they feel by either attending the meeting at Chamberlain School or by contacting them directly.
