MECHANIC FALLS – National Commander John A. Brieden III of Texas visited American Legion Post 153 of New Auburn and Post 150 of Mechanic Falls, Minot and Poland on Nov. 1 to promote the Legion’s vision.
He said the vision provides hope to children in need, healthy activities for youth, aid to military families during long deployments and pride for those serving their country today.
Others in attendance at Post 150 were U.S. Rep. Mike Michaud, speaker; Herman Wright III, commander; Paul L’Heureux, chaplain; Gene Bickford, first vice commander; Lloyd Woods, second vice commander; and Donald Simoneau, Americanism officer, Post 150, Sons of the American Legion.
Post 150 is celebrating its 25th anniversary of its Elm Street site. Since 1941 the post has held veterans’ observances, recognized community achievements and donated funds to the three towns. Members have provided the Elm Street hall for weddings, fairs, banquets and dances since 1978.
