LIVERMORE FALLS – No applicants were on their agenda Wednesday night but members of the Planning Board did learn about a home-based business recently opened here.

Shawn Atkinson, representative for Child Shield USA, told planners about his business, which is headquartered in Tucson, Ariz.

It has 16,000 affiliates across the country, mostly in the West, and is moving eastward.

It is a fee-based services operation that helps to find missing children, posts a reward and hires a private investigator, he said.

A video is done of the child to be used, if needed. It is kept in a secure vault, Atkinson says. He stressed that the program is not an insurance, but a service for a fee.

Code Enforcement Officer Brenda Medcoff told planners there is a great need for an upgrade in the town’s land-use ordinance, specifically on building and lot standards.

She also noted she is working on several violations to the state junkyard law.
