BOSTON – Mike Knuble had a goal and an assist, and the Boston Bruins stretched their streak without a regulation loss to 11 games by beating the Washington Capitals 3-2 Thursday night.

The Bruins, who have won four straight at home, have earned at least one point in every game since they lost to Carolina on Oct. 23 (7-0-1-3).

Washington (5-13-1) is tied with Pittsburgh with an NHL-low 11 points.

After Martin Lapointe gave Boston a 3-1 lead, Sergei Gonchar scored to bring the Capitals within a goal. His slap shot went over goaltender Andrew Raycroft’s shoulder with six minutes remaining.

Jaromir Jagr cut the Bruins’ lead to 2-1 with 1:26 remaining in the second period when his shot deflected off a Boston defenseman and into the net.

Knuble put the Bruins (11-2-3-3) ahead 1-0 when he took Hal Gill’s pass and beat Olaf Kolzig at 5:17 of the first period. Knuble has a team-high nine goals, and has recorded 10 points in seven games.

The Capitals missed a great opportunity in the closing two minutes of the first period when Jagr was denied four times by Raycroft in a span of about 10 seconds.

Glen Murray gave the Bruins a 2-0 lead when his slap shot trickled in off Kolzig’s glove at 13:01 of the first.

Boston is 4-0-1 in their last five games against the Capitals, who have dropped five of seven overall.

The Capitals have scored as many as three goals on four times this season.

Robert Lang extended his point streak to 10 games when he assisted on Gonchar’s goal. He has 16 points in that span.

Gonchar’s 104 goals lead NHL defenseman since the start of the 1998-99 season.

He was drafted in 1992 and was one of the five compensatory draft picks the Capitals received when they lost free agent Scott Stevens. … Joe Thornton, who assisted on Murray’s goal, has 23 points in 23 games against the Capitals. … Washington is 1-10-1 when its opponent scores first. … The Bruins have scored nine goals in their last 20 power-play opportunities.
