NORFOLK, Va. – Colin Forbes scored 1:21 into overtime to lead the Portland Pirates to a 2-1 victory Friday over the Norfolk Admirals.

Forbes knocked the puck past Steve Passmore for the winning goal on a pass from Brad Parsons.

After a scoreless first period, Ivan Ciernik put Portland (8-9-0-0) up 1-0 with a power play goal at 9:47 of the second period. But Carson Germyn tied the game for the Admirals (5-11-2-3) late in the period, also on the power play.

Norfolk outshot Portland 28-19 for the game.

The Pirates had to kill off a five-minute penalty after Ciernik got a major high-sticking penalty with just over five minutes left in the game.
