LUBBOCK, Texas – Jason White threw for 394 yards and four touchdowns and Kejuan Jones scored five TDs, keeping No. 1 Oklahoma on track for a berth in the national championship game with a 56-25 victory over Texas Tech on Saturday.

The Sooners (12-0, 8-0 Big 12) finished off their 10th unbeaten regular season in 65 years and need only to win the Big 12 title game on Dec. 6 in Kansas City to assure a Sugar Bowl bid.

Oklahoma, which last went unbeaten during its national championship season in 2000, has won 13 straight games – the longest current streak in Division I-A.

This was billed as a showdown between the nation’s top-ranked offense (Texas Tech) against the stingiest defense (Oklahoma).

Whether it was the swirling West Texas wind or Oklahoma’s relentless pass rush, Tech (7-5, 4-4) didn’t have much of a chance of keeping pace with the high-scoring Sooners, who surpassed the 50-point mark for a school-record seventh time this season.

Oklahoma co-defensive coordinator Mike Stoops, who’s rumored to be front-runner for the head coaching job at Arizona, put the clamps on Tech’s pass-happy offense for the fourth-straight year.

Red Raiders quarterback B.J. Symons broke Ty Detmer’s 13-year-old NCAA Division I-A single-season record for passing yards in the second quarter, but finished with a season-low 230 yards.

No. 2 USC 47, UCLA 22

LOS ANGELES – The Southern California Trojans showed they’re easily the class of the city – and improved their chances for a national championship.

Matt Leinart threw for 289 yards and two touchdowns, and Mike Williams had 11 catches for 181 yards and two scores for the second-ranked Trojans in a 47-22 victory over UCLA.

USC (10-1, 6-1 Pac-10), which had slipped to third behind Ohio State in the BCS rankings, got a boost when Michigan beat the Buckeyes 35-21 in a game that finished just before the Trojans took the field at the Coliseum.

No. 3 LSU 17, No. 15 Mississippi 14

OXFORD, Miss. – LSU stayed in the national title picture and spoiled Mississippi’s chance to celebrate a championship.

The No. 3 Tigers held Eli Manning and the high-scoring Rebels in check for three quarters, then withstood a fourth-quarter rally to earn a 17-14 victory that kept No. 15 Ole Miss from clinching the SEC West.

Matt Mauck threw two touchdown passes for LSU (10-1, 6-1), which now controls the SEC West race and can clinch its second trip to the conference title game in three years with a victory over Arkansas.

No. 6 Georgia 30, Kentucky 10

ATHENS, Ga. – Billy Bennett kicked three field goals to become the Southeastern Conference’s all-time scoring leader and David Greene threw for 289 yards to lead No. 6 Georgia past Kentucky 30-10.

With the victory, the Bulldogs (9-2, 6-2 SEC) gained at least a share of the East Division title with Florida. Tennessee, which beat Vanderbilt on Saturday, could create a three-way tie by beating Kentucky next week.

No. 9 Tennessee 48, Vanderbilt 0

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Casey Clausen threw three touchdown passes and scored on a sneak in No. 9 Tennessee’s 48-0 victory over Vanderbilt.

Mark Jones caught one of Clausen’s scoring passes and returned a punt 58 yards for a touchdown for the Volunteers (9-2, 5-2 Southeastern Conference), who are trying to stay in contention for a berth in the league championship and a BCS bowl.

Boston College 34, No. 12 Virginia Tech 27

BLACKSBURG, Va. – Paul Peterson threw a 64-yard touchdown pass to Grant Adams with 4:40 to play and Boston College ruined No. 12 Virginia Tech’s Big East farewell party, beating the Hokies 34-27.

In its final regular season game, Boston College (7-5, 3-4 Big East) boosted its bowl stock considerably, showing off a star running back in Derrick Knight, an emerging quarterback and a punishing defense.

No. 13 Miami 34, Rutgers 10

MIAMI – Brock Berlin bounced back from his benching, throwing two touchdown passes in a 28-point third quarter and No. 13 Miami used a strong defensive effort to beat Rutgers 34-10.

The Hurricanes are now one victory away from a fourth consecutive Big East title and a berth in a Bowl Championship Series game. Miami (9-2, 5-1) plays at No. 21 Pittsburgh next Saturday.

No. 16 Purdue 24, Indiana 16

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Kyle Orton threw two touchdown passes to John Standeford, then found him again late for a 56-yard pass play to seal No. 16 Purdue’s 24-16 victory over Indiana.

By winning the Old Oaken Bucket for the sixth time in seven years, the Boilermakers (9-3, 6-2) clinched a share of second in the Big Ten and solidified their hopes for a New Year’s Day bowl game.

No. 17 Iowa 27, Wisconsin 21

MADISON, Wis. – Free safety Sean Considine broke up John Stocco’s pass in the end zone on the final play to preserve No. 17 Iowa’s 27-21 victory over Wisconsin.

No. 18 Miami, Ohio 49, Ohio 31

ATHENS, Ohio – Ben Roethlisberger threw four touchdown passes against a depleted defense, and No. 18 Miami of Ohio rolled to its 10th straight victory, 49-31 over Ohio.

The RedHawks (10-1, 7-0 Mid-American) shattered school records for points and yards in a season while extending their longest winning streak since 1975.

No. 21 Pittsburgh 30, Temple 16

PHILADELPHIA – Brandon Miree ran for a career-high 188 yards and two touchdowns in his first game in two months, leading No. 21 Pittsburgh to a 30-16 win over Temple.

No. 22 Bowling Green 41, Ball St. 14

MUNCIE, Ind. – Josh Harris threw for two touchdowns and ran for two more to lead 22nd-ranked Bowling Green to a 41-14 victory over Ball State.

No. 24 Oklahoma St. 38, Baylor 21

WACO, Texas – Vernand Morency had his second straight 200-yard game and Rashaun Woods had six catches for 125 yards and a touchdown to lead No. 24 Oklahoma State to a 38-21 over Baylor.

No. 25 West Virginia 34, Syracuse 23

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Rasheed Marshall hit Chris Henry with touchdown passes of 24 and 67 yards in the fourth quarter and No. 25 West Virginia survived a late scare to beat Syracuse 34-23.

It was the sixth straight victory for the Mountaineers (7-4, 5-1 Big East).

and kept alive their chances of winning the conference title and securing the BCS bid that goes with it. The loss left Syracuse (5-5, 2-4) still needing one victory to qualify for the postseason with only two games left.
