HARTFORD, Conn. – Top-ranked Connecticut got a strong game from its big three of Ben Gordon, Emeka Okafor and Denham Brown in a 111-64 victory Saturday over Sacred Heart.

Gordon scored 27 points, Okafor 23 and Brown 20 for the Huskies, who capitalized on a fast break. Connecticut (3-0) shot 71 percent while rolling to a 60-28 halftime lead.

No 2. Duke 67, Detroit 56

DURHAM, N.C. – Luol Deng scored 21 points and J.J. Redick had 19 to help Duke rally and improve to 22-2 in season openers under coach Mike Krzyzewski.

The Blue Devils had to struggle to win for the 29th straight time at Cameron Indoor Stadium.

, giving Krzyzewski his 664th career victory to tie UCLA’s John Wooden.

for 18th place on the NCAA Division I list. James Thues scored 12 points to lead Detroit, which entered it season opener as a 20-point underdog.

No. 19 Wake Forest 97, Elon 55

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -Eric Williams scored 16 points to lead Wake Forest to its 15th home-opening victory in a row.

Jamaal Levy and Justin Gray added 13 points each for the Demon Deacons (2-0). Jackson Atoyebi scored 11 points for Elon (0-3).

It was a homecoming of sorts for the Elon staff. Head coach Ernie Nestor spent 14 seasons as an assistant at Wake Forest. Two of his aides, Tim Fuller and Jim Fitzpatrick, played for the Demon Deacons.
