SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. – Jessica Crosby of Greene, Jessica Bradley of Lewiston, Sara Marquis of Mechanic Falls and Eva Kovacs of Livermore have begun their first year at Mount Holyoke College, the oldest institution of higher education for women in the United States.
Crosby is the daughter of Thomas and Julie Crosby of Greene. She is a graduate of Leavitt Area High School. A member of the National Honor Society and listed in “Who’s Who Among American High School Students,” Crosby was a member of the Latin club, Model State Legislature and Destination Imagination. Her extracurricular activities included playing flute in the school band, performing in musicals and membership in the Latin club.
Bradley is the daughter of Drake Bradley of Clinton, Wash., and Elizabeth Bradley of Lewiston. She is a graduate of Lewiston High School. A member of the National Honor Society, Bradley received the Rotary Club scholarship award for community service and the John Phillip Sousa Award and the Laure Champagne Scholarship for excellence in music.
Active with the drama club and the environmental club, she also participated in student government and sang with the school choir. An accomplished clarinetist, she played in the school band and orchestra as well as the Androscoggin Valley Community Orchestra and the Portland Youth Wind Ensemble.
In the community, Bradley volunteered as a teaching assistant at the High Street Congregational Church in Auburn and spent time visiting local nursing homes.
Marquis is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Marquis of Mechanic Falls and Shirley Marquis of Mechanic Falls. She is a graduate of Hebron Academy. Captain of the varsity basketball team, Marquis also played varsity field hockey, sang soprano with the choir, was a member of the debate club and served as student class secretary.
She was a member of the Green Key and math teams and the diversity committee. In the community, she was a Big Brothers/Big Sisters mentor and volunteered with a local Santa program. Marquis intends to pursue a course of study that will prepare her for a career in law.
Kovacs is the daughter of Charles and Maria Kovacs of Livermore. She is a graduate of Livermore Falls High School. A student of the month nominee, Kovacs competed on the varsity track and field team, was on the staff of the school yearbook and was a member of the drama club and student government association.
