1949-2003
BOSTON, Mass. – Jolene A. Adams, 54, of East Wilton, died peacefully as she slept at the New England Medical Center, Boston, Mass., on Friday, Nov. 21, 2003, after a courageous three and a half year struggle with leukemia.
She was born June 27, 1949, a daughter of Kenneth B. and Janice (Brann) Lake. She attended East Wilton and Wilton schools and graduated from Wilton Academy in 1967. On June 26, 1976, she married Gary W. Adams.
She was employed at G. H. Bass for many years. After losing her job at Bass because of foreign imports, she went back to school and earned an Associate’s Degree in Administrative Assistance with a diploma in accounting. She then went to work for the University of Maine at Farmington in 1994 and worked there until her illness.
She enjoyed a wide variety of interests including traveling, gardening and reading. She enjoyed time spent at family get-togethers, especially on the holidays. One of her favorite activities was fishing and canoeing with her husband on Little Kennebago Lake in Eustis.
Jolene was a very loving and giving person who will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her husband, Gary of East Wilton; a son: Jeremy R. Welch of Augusta, Georgia; step-daughters: Laura Lowell of Livermore Falls and Diane Grindle of Richmond, Maine; her father, Kenneth B. Lake of Wilton and Spring Hill, Florida; a sister: Cathy Gibbs of Livermore and several nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles.
