Dear Sun Spots: My aunt is 88 and for her birthday she would like a yellow house violet to go with her other violets. I’ve hunted and have had no luck. I’m not even sure there is such a color. Where could I find one to buy? – Wondering in Norway.

Answer:
Sun Spots ran this by Sun Journal Gardening Columnist Jody Goodwin who says if you mean a yellow African violet you should check the grocery stores and nurseries. Goodwin says yellow is not really common, but they can be found. If you don’t mean an African violet, then you will have to provide more information as to what a “house violet” is so that we can research this further. Goodwin says the people at Roak the Florist are also very nice about finding particular plants, and you may want to consider contacting them. You can reach them at (207) 784-4061.

Dear Sun Spots: Several weeks ago I went to Sugar Bear Shoe repair shop on 850 Lisbon St. to have a money bag repaired. They told me it would take a few weeks because they were very busy, and they would call me when it was repaired. So I called up (207) 782-0606 and the operator told me the phone was not in use any longer. Today I went over and the place says closed. Would you know what’s happening? I am very concerned. Thank you. – Normand Perron, Lewiston.

Answer:
Sun Spots received the same operator message. Perhaps other readers familiar with this shop would will be willing to share any information with you.

Dear Sun Spots: For many years I have been a golf fan of Gary Player, the professional golfer. He recently had an article in a golf magazine to which I subscribe. I would like to get his address so I could write to him. Your column is always fascinating. Keep up the good work! – No Name, No Town.
