AUGUSTA – The Board of Directors of the Maine Indoor Air Quality Council has adopted a new best practice recommendation for solving indoor air quality problems in new homes. The IAQ Checklist for New Residential Construction is being made available for free to all home builders, designers and property owners.

The purpose of the checklist is to highlight those practices that need to occur during new residential construction to minimize the likelihood of poor air quality in the home. Its checklist format is sequenced to the actual residential construction process – from site selection and design, to finishing details and building occupant considerations. The document is designed for use in Maine’s climate. Copies are available for free on the Web site of the Maine Indoor Air Quality Council at www.miaqc.org or by phoning the council at (207) 626-8115.
