JAY – Police are investigating the destruction of brushes at a car wash, trash dumping, stolen money and vandalism to a retaining wall.

Some hand-held brushes at the Jay Auto Wash were reported destroyed Sunday, said police Chief Larry White Sr.

The vandalism is believed to have occurred sometime overnight between Saturday and Sunday.

Police are also looking into a case where someone moved and dropped a substantial amount of trash – bags and household items – onto a Belmont Drive property, White said.

Detective Russell Adams is investigating the theft of $200 worth of cigarettes and money from Rolling Redemption on Main Street, White said.

The incident happened during business hours and was reported Friday. Adams has a suspect in the case, the chief said.

Sgt. Charles Keene is investigating a burglary at an Otis Street home.

White said the people had left their door unlocked when they left and came home to find their door locked.

Someone had entered the home and took $130 in change and a wedding band, White said, and locked the door behind them.

In a separate incident, someone took three blocks from a retaining wall adjacent to St. Rose’s Church and put one of the blocks in the road.
