FARMINGTON – Police caught a teenager who allegedly tried to get a free ride Friday to downtown Farmington.

Farmington police Lt. Jack Peck said that a 15-year-old Farmington Falls boy called a cab company and took a ride into Farmington.

The teen told the cab driver to pull over and wait so he could go talk to friends, Peck said. The boy didn’t come back, he said.

“Fortunately,” said Peck, officer Mike Wahl caught up to him.

The boy was taken home and his father agreed to pay the cab fare, the lieutenant said.

Additionally, police are investigating the theft of about $600 in tools and a snowmobile helmet stolen from a Temple Road garage. Someone entered the unlocked garage within the past few weeks and took a Craftsman air compressor, a Craftsman ratchet set, a snowmobile helmet and a tool box with assorted tools.
