1948 – 2003

LEWISTON – Rita J. Albert, 55, passed away Monday, Nov. 24, and has begun the journey with an inner peace to her everlasting home following a courageous battle with leukemia.

She was born in Lewiston, Oct. 7, 1948, daughter of the late Lawrence and Aurore Albert.

She was a graduate of Lunenburg High School in Massachusetts class of 1967. She expressed her beauty and modeling talent through the clothing retail industry for Bare Foot Trader and Ward Brothers for eight years.

She was then called to the aid of special need children in the Lewiston school system for 14 years. Her love for children was evident in the many smiles she brought to the children of McMahon and Longley schools. She will be remembered for the special love she had for all the children in her extended family proudly serving as a godmother to seven.

She enjoyed spending time with her friends, a hopeful win at a game of bingo and any animal that she came in contact with especially her two cats, Otis and Tiger.

She will be sadly missed by three surviving brothers, Robert Albert and his wife Julie of Caribou, Richard P. Albert of Lewiston and Rudolph J. Albert and his wife Sandy of Lewiston; a sister, Joanne Albert of New Gloucester; several nieces and nephews; stepchildren, Tracy and Kevin; best friend and soul sister, Anna Faunce and her children Adam, Amanda, Audrey and Andrew who Rita was a second mother to; soul brother, Gordon Faunce; Mrs. Laroche, a second mother to Rita; special friend, Roger Laroche; Rita’s “special ladybug” Sarah Dube-Legare; and many other close friends.

She was predeceased and will be reunited with her parents, Lawrence and Aurore; two brothers, Donald and Normand Albert; and a sister, Theresa Albert.
