1921 – 2003

FARMINGTON – Robert A. “Bob” Brown, 82, passed away Sunday, Nov. 23, at Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington, after a long illness.

Born in Livermore Falls, April 19, 1921, the son of Raymond and Mary (Mitchell) Brown, he attended school in Livermore Falls and graduated from Livermore Falls High School.

Mr. Brown was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a chief radioman. He was a graduate of the School of Banking at Williams College, the Agricultural Banking School at Cornell University and attended the American Institute of Banking.

On March 21, 1942, he married Helen (Babe) Kyes of Wilton in Portland. Mr. Brown worked for the Department of Banks and Banking as an examiner until he was appointed deputy bank commissioner. He joined Franklin Savings Bank as a vice president and treasurer in 1975 and was named president in 1978, where he served until retiring in 1985.

Survivors include his wife, “Babe” of Farmington; three children, Lynne Brown-Warner and her husband, Stan of Pittston, Timothy Brown and his wife, Mary Ann of Strong and Beth Meader of Gray; one brother, David Laurent and his wife, Ruth of Cranston, R.I.; three sisters, Anne Brown and her husband, Myles of Colorado, Rae Perreault and her husband, Roger of Jay and Mary Lou Morison and her husband, Alan of Wilton; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; several cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents; two brothers, William and Byron; and a sister, Patricia Coates.
