AUBURN – The Lewiston-Auburn Rotary Club will launch its annual Christmas tree fund-raising project with a goal of distributing 500 trees. The event will begin Friday, Nov. 28, and continue until all the trees are gone.
Rotary Club volunteer members will offer Christmas trees at the Auburndale Shopping Plaza in front of SuperShaws on Center Street. The trees will be available for $25 and $30, depending on the size of the tree.
Jason LaPlante, event chairman, said, “This project is not about selling Christmas trees; it’s about raising the funds needed to grant $1,000 scholarships to five area high school seniors and assisting several other local charities. People are really making a donation to worthwhile charitable causes and in return are receiving a fresh, Maine-grown Christmas tree.”
Each year, the Lewiston-Auburn Rotary Club distributes about $15,000 to various local projects. For more information visit the Rotary Web site at lewistonauburnrotary.org.
