Officials tried to find the German shepherd that bit Andrea Duguay.
WILTON – A woman bit by a dog last week on Main Street started her rabies shots Monday.
Her doctor called her at her new job Monday, Andrea Duguay said, to tell her she had to undergo treatment since the dog that bit her was not located
Police and an animal control officer tried to find the German shepherd that bit Duguay, 21, in the thigh on Saturday, Nov. 15, while she was walking to work.
Duguay was upset Monday because she had started a new job and had only been there an hour when her doctor called her out of a 10-hour shift.
“My doctor said the shots are required,” Duguay said. “I wasn’t very happy.”
Not only did Duguay lose her first day of pay but since she doesn’t have a car, the person who took her to work was also called out to bring her home.
Duguay said she would get a shot Monday in her arm and one directly in the bite. She’ll undergo a series of shots over several weeks, which Duguay said are estimated to cost more than $1,500.
