PORTLAND – The Maine International Trade Center is offering a practical seminar for Maine businesses relatively new to international trade and wanting to ensure they get paid for shipments.

The seminar is titled Letters of Credit and will be held from noon to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 10, in Bangor.

Successful exporting includes obtaining international orders, shipping the goods properly, and getting paid for the shipments. Letters of Credit are one of the safest ways of ensuring that a company will be paid.

This seminar provides a detailed review of the different types and applications of letters of credit from experts in international banking and freight forwarding, as well as an understanding of bank and freight forwarder involvement in the flow of documents and payments.

The program is part of the Eaton Peabody Global Commerce Series and will be held at the Richard E. Dyke Center for Family Business at Husson College. Cost to attend is $30 for MITC members and $60 for nonmembers.

For more information or to register, phone Cheryl Rau at (207) 541-7455, [email protected] or on the Web at: http://www.mitc.com.
