1912 – 2003

LEWISTON – Elizabeth A. Gilley, 91, a resident of Claire Street, Lewiston, died Tuesday, Nov. 25, at her home.

She was born on June 4, 1912, in Wales, the daughter of Wendell F. and Mildred Austin Andrew. She attended the schools of Wales, Monmouth Academy and Farmington Normal School and was a graduate of Bliss College in Lewiston.

On Nov. 25, 1936, she married Charles Herbert Gilley in Wales. He passed away on Oct. 10, 1965. She worked for the Peck Co. as a cashier for 40 years, retiring at the age of 70. Her hobbies included knitting, reading and working in her flower garden.

She is survived by a son and his wife, James and Charlene Gilley of Jonestown, Pa.; a daughter and her husband, Judith and William Whitley of North Vassalboro; six grandchildren, Jeffrey A.Whitley, Brian T. Whitley, Kevin W. Whitley, Jennifer L. Whitley, David J. Gilley, and Patricia A. Gurdus; and 10 great-grandchildren.
