1949 – 2003

PORTLAND – Laurier P. “Larry” Lavoie, 53, a resident of Brookside in Yarmouth, died peacefully Tuesday evening, Nov. 25, at Mercy Hospital surrounded by his family.

He was born in Lewiston Dec. 18, 1949, a son of Paul and Delores (Lepage) Lavoie. He was educated in local schools and graduated from Edward Little High School in 1968.

On Sept. 5, 1970, he married the former Monita Morissette at Holy Cross Church in Lewiston and later spent several years as a reservist in the Army Reserves. Mr Lavoie was a certified home inspector and ran his own business in the local community doing such inspections for 10 years prior to working in electronics retail sales.

Early on he spent some time working at Stromboli’s Music Store in Lewiston and has spent the past several years in electronics sales first working for Sears and later for Circuit City where he was currently employed. He was very knowledgable about electronics and enjoyed spending time on his computer.

He liked to travel, as he and his wife vacationed each year in Aruba since 1991, and also had a love and appreciation for music. He loved driving his Mazda Miata, but most of all he treasured the special times with his family and his two boys.

He leaves his wife of 33 years, Monita of Yarmouth; two sons, Jason Lavoie and fiancee, Kristen Merrill of Durham and Chris Lavoie and girlfriend, Kathryn Downs of Portland; his mother, Delores Lavoie of Auburn; and two sisters, Joline Cook and husband Brian of Calais and Joyce Comeau and husband Don of Carrabasset Valley.

He was predeceased by his Dad.
