HOPKINTON, N.H. (AP) – A Massachusetts man died after he crashed into a group of trees off Interstate 89.
Herbert Hinners, 55, of Mashpee, Mass., apparently fell asleep at the wheel as he returned home from Acworth, police said.
His Jeep drifted off the highway, over the embankment and into the trees at 3:20 p.m. Wednesday, police said. Hinners was not wearing a seat belt.
Hinners died before firefighters could free him from the car.
Authorities don’t believe alcohol or speed were factors.
They were checking Hinners’ medical history to see whether a medical condition or allergy medication might have contributed to the crash.
