AUBURN – Beacon Hospice and Palliative Care of Lewiston recently sponsored its first informational seminar for the medical community of Androscoggin County.

The all-day program served to introduce Beacon Hospice to the community and featured several speakers from Beacon’s Boston and Scarborough offices, including Beacon CEO Betty Brennan, vice president of development, Bobbi Garvey; the Rev. Jacob Watson; Jane Dubois, MS, M.Div.; Ginni Holden-Norberg, LICSW; and Cathy Schutt, RN, MS, ANP. Dr. Kristin Jhamb, medical director for Beacon Hospice, was also on hand to welcome the participants.

The morning and afternoon sessions, attended by an audience of more than 50 community medical and health care professionals, covered a range of topics from pain and symptom management at end-of-life to spirituality and coping with grief and loss.

The afternoon concluded with Lewiston office General Manager Paulette Crabtree, CHPN, introducing her Lewiston Hospice team: Barbara Daigle, bereavement coordinator; Deanne Doherty, RN; Connie Kell, RN; Donna Rousseau, volunteer coordinator; Karen Carlisle, social worker; Llewellyn Sperry, chaplain; Jessica Hancock, CHHA; and Leonora Cacabelos, CHHA.

“We are pleased with the reception Beacon has received,” said Crabtree. “We are looking forward to our membership in this evolving community and making a difference in the lives of the patients and families we serve.”

Beacon Hospice and Palliative Care has two locations in Main – South Portland and Lewiston – with six offices throughout Massachusetts and one in East Providence, R.I.
