EAST JAY – Irene Mae Gould, 74, of East Jay, died Wednesday afternoon at her home, after a long illness, with her loving family by her side.

She was born Dec. 2, 1928, in West Farmington, the daughter of Charles C. and Alice E. (Raymond) Oram. She received her education in West Farmington and East Wilton schools and on June 21, 1947, married Raymond F. Gould of East Livermore.

A devoted wife and mother, she volunteered many hours at the Tri-Town Food Pantry at the Eaton Memorial United Methodist Church, Livermore Falls. Proud of her Scottish heritage, she was a member of the St. Andrews Society and was a convener for the Clan MacBain at the Highland Games.

She is survived by her husband, Raymond, of East Jay; one son, Dennis C. Gould of Dixfield; one daughter, Marie Elizabeth Macombe rof East Jay; a sister, June A. Dyer of East Jay; four grandchildren, Isaac Gould, Micheala Gould, Crystal Macomber and Eddie Macomber; four great-grandchildren, Dallas Cippettilli, Alisha MAcomber, Samantha Macomber and Brittany Macomber; one brother-in-law, Donald Gould of Florida; five sisters-in-law, Alice Hunt of Connecticut, Mary Moulton of Livermore Falls, Meredith Chicoine of Weare, N.H., Florence Gould of Florida and Barbara Dyer Hiscock of Sidney; several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a brother, Richard, in 1992.
