AUBURN – Auburn AC Serve will hold its alternate registration day for the Dec. 20 Distribution Day from 3:30 to 6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 1, at the Auburn Advent Christian Church, Whitney Street entrance. New and former participants of Serve are welcome. Call Janet at 784-2164 for information.

Seniors meeting

LEWISTON – The Lewiston Senior Citizens will meet at 1:15 p.m. Monday, Dec. 1, in the Multi-Purpose Center gym. The agenda will include reports, bylaws updates and changes, election of officers and a discussion of the Christmas party.

Rep. Peggy Rotundo will give a legislative update. Entertainment will be provided by Melissa Perron’s dance troupe. A sing-along of Christmas songs will also be held.

Rebekah lodge

AUBURN – Liberty Rebekah Lodge 94 will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 1, at the Odd Fellows Hall, 50 Elm St. Plans will be made for gifts for shut-in members.

The members, Mother Hubbard’s helpers, will collect clothing items for the Court Street Baptist Church Clothes Cupboard.

Assembly President Lucille Nelson has as one of her projects for this year to fill Mother Hubbard’s cupboard. There are several ways to fill the cupboard – food, clothing and toys. All collections will be distributed to a worthy cause.

Volunteer hours are to be tabulated and turned in to the lodge quarterly to be documented in the report of accumulated hours from all lodges in the state. Last year, in addition to food, clothing and toys, more than $12,000 and 27,000 volunteer hours were reported.

LEWISTON – The Lewiston High School Girls Basketball Boosters will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 2, in Room B-117 at the school.

Lecture series

LEWISTON – An adult lecture series, “How to Share Faith with Your Children,” will be offered by Sister Elaine Lachance, SCIM, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 3, at Holy Cross Chapel, Baird Avenue.

Lachance has expertise in Catechesis and has worked with families in Faith Formation for more than 20 years. She will share ideas about sharing faith with children.

OES session

AUBURN – Mt. Olivet Chapter 29, OES, will meet at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 2, at the Masonic Hall, Turner Street. The program will be Landmarks and Obligation and members will collect for charity.

All Eastern Star members are invited. Refreshments, provided by Ruth Bell and Pam Toussaint, will be served after the meeting.

Ice cream social

POLAND – Poland Community School will hold an ice cream social fund-raiser for the fifth-grade class at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 2, in the cafeteria.

There will be door prizes, an opportunity to do Christmas shopping and plenty of ice cream. Everyone is welcome.

Seniors program

AUBURN – First Auburn Seniors will meet at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 3, at Hasty Community Center, Pettengill Park. The board of directors will meet at 10 a.m. Members may purchase tickets for the Dec. 17 Christmas dinner at the Martindale Country Club.

A musical duo, the Jubilees, entertained with familiar selections and members were encouraged to join in the singing. President Betty Hebert introduced the program and also announced the winners of the pot of gold drawing.

Phone Pioneers

LEWISTON – Stevens Life Members Club, Telephone Pioneers, will hold a meeting Wednesday, Dec. 3, at the Ramada Inn. Fellowship at 11 a.m. will be followed by lunch at noon. A Christmas program will follow a short meeting. Members and guests are asked to bring nonperishable food or donations for the needy. Reservations must be made by Friday, Nov. 28.

Adopt a unit

LISBON – VFW Post 9459 and Auxiliary has adopted a unit in Iraq, the 94th Military Police Co. Members are gathering gifts for the unit. Anyone who wishes can drop off gifts at the post home, Route 196, before Friday, Dec. 5, from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. Call 353-5291 after 3 p.m.

AUBURN – The 2004 hunting and/or fishing licenses are available at the city clerk’s office, 45 Spring St.

A greeting card envelope is provided with each license for those who wish to give them as gifts. Hours are Mondays (except holidays) from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Tuesday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Combination hunting/fish-ing licenses are $41; hunting, fishing and archery, $24; and junior hunting (ages 10 to 15), $10.

Crowned

MINOT – Bridget Duval of Minot was crowned Miss Vacationland Grand Supreme at a recent pageant held in Bangor. She competed against women ages 16 to 25 from all over the state. The pageant included evening wear, beauty/photogenic qualities, modeling and talent.

Duval is a sophomore at St. Dominic Regional High School in Auburn and is the daughter of Neil and Susan Duval of Minot.

Bridge play

LEWISTON – The Lewiston-Auburn Social Bridge Club winners at the Multi-Purpose Center on Nov. 24 were: N/S, first, Nancy Ferris and Eileen Minnehan; second, Lucille Bilodeau and Roger Briggs; third, Anna Vitiello and Randy Silver; fourth, Helen Little and George Vogt; second in B, Allie Boyer and Barbara Beegel.
