PARIS – Area residents have an opportunity to honor a loved one by purchasing a light on the tree of caring at the Maine Veterans Homes in South Paris. For $5 per light, a bulb will be lit in honor of or in dedication of special people. This is a now annual event sponsored by the Western Maine Veterans Advisory Committee, and proceeds go toward funding activities for residents of the home throughout the year.
The tree will be illuminated at an evening program at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 12, at the facility, and will stay lit throughout the holiday season. The Vikettes from Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School will perform Christmas carols and refreshments will be served.
Lights may be purchased at the facility at 477 High St., or by sending a check made out to Western Maine Veterans Activities Council c/o Florence McLaughlin, 8 Jackson Crossing Road, South Paris, ME 04281.
