The County Commission has approved a resolution supporting the Municipal/County Collaborative Partnership.

The partnership – of Androscoggin County government, the cities of Lewiston and Auburn and all of the county’s towns – seeks to find ways to consolidate services to reduce costs, while providing necessary services.

Several municipalities have approved similar resolutions. At least one representative from each city and town will serve on a steering committee.

Lisbon:

Selectmen hire and appoint

Selectmen have appointed Steve Curtis to the Trail Commission and are looking for someone interested in filling an unexpired term on the Planning Board. Interested individuals should call the Town Office, 353-3000.

Gerald Kamke, who has extensive previous experience at Lisbon’s treatment plant, has accepted the position of treatment plant operator. He began his duties two weeks ago.

Keith Bickford is now manning the video camera during selectmen meetings.

Lisbon:

New school to be named

The Lisbon Elementary School Naming Committee has received more than 300 suggestions from both students and adults for naming the new elementary school on Mill Street. The new school is slated to open for classes in September.

Leeds:

Board alternates needed

Selectmen are looking for people to fill two board positions. One alternate member of the Planning Board and one alternate member of the Appeals Board are needed.

Alternates attend meetings and vote if enough regular members aren’t present to form a quorum. Alternate members are often elevated to full voting positions on the boards.

Any Leeds resident interested in either of these appointed positions should contact the municipal office at 524-5171.

Gold Cane needs new owner

Lisbon is once again looking for its oldest resident to be honored as a Gold Cane recipient. The previous holder of the Boston Post Gold Cane, Flora D’Amour, recently passed away.
