WEST PARIS – Jere R. Cox, 89, of Waterford, formerly of North Norway, died Wednesday, Nov. 26 at Ledgeview Living Center.
Born in Norway, Sept. 15, 1914, the son of Carlton and Ada Hobbs Cox, he attended Norway schools.
He was a woodsman, operating a portable sawmill before being employed as a carpenter at Burnham & Morrill. He was a former member of the Norway Grange. He married Rose R. Ronkko on Aug. 27, 1967.
Survivors include: his wife, Rose of Waterford; four daughters, Joan Morgan and her husband, Gordon, of Greenwood, Jane Kimball and her husband, Rodney, of South Waterford, Janis Buck of West Paris and Jolene Witham of South Paris; a son, Jerald Cox of Norway; a brother, James E. Cox of Honolulu, Hawaii; a foster sister, Helen Harrington and her husband, Bill, of Baldwin; 17 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren; special nephews, Sidney and Roland Whitman; several nieces, nephews and cousins; two stepchildren, Rosemarie Millett and her husband, Scott and Randall Millett, all of Naples; three step-granddaughters, one step-grandson and one step-great-granddaughter.
He was predeceased by a sister, Florence Whitman of Norway.
